A few weeks ago, I was extremely fortunate to be invited to attend the first ever ‘We Love MCR Sporting Legends Awards’ event.
The evening was sponsored by Sports Relief, in order to raise money for local charities and determine who the biggest sporting legends from Manchester are, as voted for by the public.
As part of the event though, local fundraisers were also recognised for the extra work they had put into raising money for Sport Relief last year. I was lucky enough to be one of those people!
On the night, I received an award for the Most Inventive Fundraising Event, as I organised the Manchester Yogathon, challenging myself and others to see how many sun salutations they could complete in one go – 25, 50 or 100! It was a huge success, and we did 100 within an hour – a world record!
Alex Ferguson won on the night, along with Dame Sarah Storey and Bryan Robson. It was such a great experience to see all these sporting legends side by side, and raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
